In Aomori, Japan, a swimming pool was delivered that focuses on flexibility, ease of use and sports functionality. The client was looking for a solution that allows the pool to quickly switch between different configurations and training and competition set-ups, without complex conversion or downtime.

Variopool installs two movable pool floors for variable water depths

To make the pool multifunctional, Variopool installed two movable pool floors. These solutions allow for variable water depth and make it possible to programme the pool efficiently for various target groups and activities-from training and instruction to competitions and recreational use.

The applied movable pool floors have the following dimensions:

25 x 25 metres
22.5 x 25 metres

Retaining wall and bases operated via one touchscreen

The pool also features a retaining wall. The distinguishing feature of this project is the integrated control: the retaining wall and both movable pool floors are linked to a single touchscreen, making management and switching clear and user-friendly. For the operation, this means fast, consistent operation with clear settings that match daily practice.
In addition, the bottoms feature pre-programmed depths, arranged as requested by the pool. This allows the user to easily select the desired position per activity, simplifying planning and increasing the pool's usability.

Crossing lines for 50-metre and 25-metre use

Crossing lines are fitted on both floors, allowing 25-metre swims in the 50-metre pool as well. On the smaller floor, the crossing lines are rotated by 90 degrees, allowing swimmers to swim in widthwise. This supports different forms of training and lane layouts, and makes the pool extra functional for clubs, schools and events.
